Situation of ovarian diseases in dairy cow at Moc Chau dairy breed jointstock company

Abstract

Moc Chau is a locality having about 60 years of dairy cattle farming experience in Viet Nam. However, up to date, ovarian diseases in the dairy cows, such as: late estrus or artificial insemination for several times but the cows are not pregnant, which are still problematic. In this study, exam, surveillance and sorting of the ovarian diseases of cow during the period from parturition to 90 days afterward in Moc Chau were carried out. The studied result showed that after parturition the cows suffering with ovarian disease accounted for 55.56% which consisted of corpus luteum disease (16.42%), ovarian cyst (22.39%) and inactive ovary (56.72%). The incidence of these disorders was varied by seasons. In spring and summer, the cows carrying ovarian cyst shared about 40% and 20%, respectively. In autumn, the cows suffering from inactive ovary disease accounted for 23.68%. In winter, 54.54% of cow number were suffered with corpus luteum disease. In the second litter, the cows were more susceptible with ovarian cyst and inactive ovary. Meanwhile in the third litter, the cows were vulnerable to prolonged luteal phase. In other hands, the cows with BCS < 2.5 were frequently suffered with inactive ovary, in contrast, the cows with BCS > 4 were often suffered with ovarian cyst. The inactive ovary and prolonged luteal phase were often identified in the cows with 2.5 < BCS < 4.
