LEARNING THEORIES UNDERPIN THE APPLICATION OF ICT IN TEACHING ENGLISH

This article presents the conceptual basis of learning theories such as Behaviorism, Cognitivism, Constructivism, and Connectivism. In addition, this study explores the relationship between learning theory and classroom organization in the student learning process by showing that students' learning activities are highly dependent on pedagogical methods. used and supported by ICT. Based on a survey of a random sample of 108 teachers and 849 Students from 24 high schools in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the study shows that the combination of teaching approach and organization of activities Teaching activities, ICT equipment, and aids, as well as testing and assessment methods, are important factors in creating a foreign language learning environment. Most importantly, teachers must apply more flexible learning theories and “English teaching strategies” to cooperative learning to develop the necessary skills. In other words, the learning theories in this article are the foundation to help teachers build an effective approach to learners by applying IT in learning and practicing English
