Abstract

Objective: This descriptive study was conducted to identify the epidemiological, clinical, and laboratory characteristics of DHF patients treated at the Department of Tropical Diseases, Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital, in 2024. Methods: descriptive study. Results: Analysis of 350 patients revealed a nearly equal male-to-female ratio (51.4%/48.6%) with a mean age of 39.2 years. The most common clinical symptoms included high fever (66.9%), fatigue (64.9%), and headache (56.3%). Subcutaneous hemorrhage was observed in 40.3% of cases. Regarding laboratory findings, thrombocytopenia was a significant feature; 33.7% of patients presented with a platelet count between 10-50 G/L, typically reaching its lowest point on the sixth day of illness. Furthermore, elevated liver enzymes were common, with increased AST in 65.7% and increased ALT in 53.2% of cases, predominantly at a mild level (< 200 UI/L). These findings are crucial for the diagnosis and prognosis of patients with DHF.
