Abstract

Objective: To describe the clinical and paraclinical characteristics and evaluate the treatment outcomes of fractures in the mandibular condylar neck region. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 32 patients with traumatic fractures in the mandibular condylar neck region, treated at Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital from January 2024 to December 2024. Results: Male patients accounted for 71.9%, with a mean age of 31.3 years. Traffic accidents were the cause in 84.4% of cases. All patients presented with mouth opening limitation and malocclusion. Moderate to severe displacement was observed in 93.7% of cases. After surgery, good occlusion was achieved in 84.4% of patients, and good mouth opening in 90.6%. No cases of infection, facial nerve paralysis, or temporomandibular joint ankylosis were recorded. All patients demonstrated good bone union. Overall, good treatment outcomes were observed in 84.3% of cases. Conclusion: Fractures in the mandibular condylar neck region require accurate diagnosis and timely treatment to ensure proper masticatory function and minimize post-treatment complications.
