Abstract

Worship is a spirit of the lineages, linking with the survival process of the lineages and one of the traditional cultures of the Vietnamese people. This study discusses worshipped beliefs in the “the first man established the village” family of coastal residents in Man Thai ward, Son Tra district, Da Nang city. The article focuses on analysing the religious activities of the Nguyen, Tran and Le clans. They are the first three clans contributed to the establishment of the village. The source of analysis is mainly secondary documents, reports of the Family Council, Village Covenants, the tribe of the lineages and the survey process with depth interviews and group discussion. The research indicates that, regarding the existence and development of lineages, worship beliefs play an essential role in the spiritual life of the fishermen community in Man Thai ward, Son Tra district, Da Nang city.
