A Study of citizen participation in community-based rural tourism development in the North Central Coast of Vietnam

Abstract

The participation of the local community is a crucial factor to ensure the sustainable tourism development as the local community involved in tourism development combines the benefit rights and responsibilities of each resident with the overall development of tourism industry. The paper analyzes and assesses local participation in developing community-based rural tourism in the North Central Coast. Results of the study are significant in proposing a number of policy implications for enhancing rural tourism development, including raising the consensus and community participation in tourism activities towards sustainable development for rural areas in the North Central Coast.
