Application of remote sensing and GIS to research surface coatings in Hanoi city area
Abstract
The objective of the study is to evaluate the surface coating (LULC) in the Hanoi city area from Landsat 9 remote sensing satellite images in the Hanoi city area. The classification results using the maximum likelihood algorithm show that the overall accuracy and Kappa coefficient of the LULC classification results are 88.79 % and 0.86, respectively. Residential cover occupies the largest area with an area of 161,894.6 hectares, accounting for about 48.3 % of the total area of the Hanoi area. Crops and rice land occupy the second and third positions, respectively, with an area of 68,817.5 hectares (20.5 %) and 55,824.2 hectares (16.6 %). Surface water, forest, and river sand with corresponding areas of 29,869.4 hectares (8.9 %), 18,611.3 hectares (5.5 %), and 341.1 hectares (0.1 %), respectively.
