Abstract

Ho Chi Minh City is a biggest city of Viet Nam in economics, a center of culture, education, science and technology. Along with the fast changing during the development of Ho Chi Minh City, the government has to face with a big issue-solid waste management. Nowadays, information associating with solid waste in urban center is huge and unorganized systematically, leading to a demand of integrating all such information to build a reliable database as well as to facilitate in administration of Solid Waste.

A soft-ware named “Waste” (Computer Tool for Solid Waste Management) has been studied in Ho Chi Minh City and experimented in Binh Thanh and Thu Duc District. It is obvious that this software seems to be first step in building a program in administer urban solid waste by using computer tool in several province and cities.

This paper introduces some results in study GIS (Geographic’s Information System) software and others in environmental information, aiming to computerize input/output information relating to solid waste in Ho Chi Minh city in order to effectively govern as well as to build a database of solid waste in Ho Chi Minh city and gives prediction in the future.
