EVALUATING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF WASTEWATER TREATMENT FROM EFFLUENT FROM TAPIONA STARCH BASED ON TOXICITY EFFECTS ON BIOMARKERS OF DAPHNIA MAGNA ABSTRACT
Abstract
Toxicity testing of effluent from Tapioca starch processing with Daphnia magna showed that LD50 after 24 and 48 hours of raw wastewater were 7,66 ± 0,95% and 7,18 ± 1,04% respectively. Whereas the treated water for LD50 after 24 hours and 48 hours were 88,75±13,15% and 66,67±29,66% respectively. Tests showed that the wastewater treatment system was reduces the toxicity of wastewater effects on ecosystems receiving water. Besides toxicity tests with Daphnia magna can be used to evaluate the toxicity of waste water.
