Abstract

The research aims at evaluating the environmental changes of soil due to coffee cultivation (mainly soil fertility), which proposed a number of appropriate solutions for farming techniques to reduce the level of damages arising from the coffee cultivation on soil. Through investigation on the use of fertilizers and technical measures for Robusta coffee cultivation and analysis of soil samples under the coffee cultivation on basalt soil in Krong Buk district, author compared the results of local basalt soil with and without robusta coffee cultivation to assess soil changes due to coffee cultivation, mainly the change of soil fertility. Authors also showed the changes of soil under the coffee cultivation comparing to the primary forest soil. Based on the research results, authors proposed soil reclamation and sustainable cultivation of coffee on basalt soil.
Keywords: soil movements, robusta coffee, sustainable farming, cultivation, basalt soil.
