SYNTHESIZE TITANIUM OXIDE NANOROD FROM COMMERICAL TITANIUM OXIDE BY HYDROTHERMAL METHOD
Abstract
Titanium oxide nanorod was synthesized from commerical titanium oxide by hydrothermal method of 10 M NaOH solution in autoclave. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and nitrogen adsorption measurements (BET). The results showed that anatase phase was dominant and its morphology consisted of uniform nanorod with 10 - 20 nm in scale, lengths of the TiO2 nanorods were 250-300 nm, its surface area as high as 71 m2/g. TiO2 nanorod exhibited excellent photocalalytic activity for degradation of methylene blue under UV, sunlight and even halogen radition.
