Abstract

This paper presents our preliminary results of dimethoate degradation in water in the dark and by UVirradiations. Effects of different components in water such as pH value, aqueous media, phosphate, NaCl, Ca2+, Mg2+, nitrate… onto dimethoate degradation has been studied. Under the conditions investigated, Dimethoate degradation yields increased with increasing irradiation time. The results obtained are useful for environment risk assessment of Dimethoate - and other organophosphorous chemicals application, which could be extended to environment risk assessment of organochlorines.
