Abstract

Roses are beautiful and popular species. However, the propagation of roses is difficult because they are woody plants. This study investigates some factors impacting the in vitro shoot induction from the node of Rosa chinensis Jacq. Var. minima Redh. The results show that the percentage of uninfected samples was 71.67% when the nodes were sterilized with 0.2% HgCl2 solution for 10 min. MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/L BA, 0.5 mg/L Kinetin, 0.5 g/L activated charcoal, 30.0 g/L sucrose, pH 5.8 was suitable for induction of in vitro shoots. After 21 days of culture, the shoot formation rate was 100% with 3.6 shoots per
sample, the shoots’ average height was 2.2 cm. The study results can be used as a reference for establishing a process of propagating Rosa chinensis Jacq. Var. minima Redh.
