Solutions to improve learning autonomy for students at Faculty of English Language - Hanoi University of Science and Technology

Abstract

In students’ learning process, learning autonomy is an important skill to help them grasp the knowledge better, thereby making learning more effective. For foreign languages, self-study plays a significant role. This study through a survey to find out the current status of English learning of K24 English-majored students at Hanoi University of Business and Technology (HUBT) in terms of form, time, location, and identifying the causes affecting self-study of English as well as the role of teachers in supporting students to learn foreign languages on their own, thereby proposing solutions (especially using IT) to enhance autonomy in learning English at the Faculty of English Language Studies in particular and the University of Business and Technology in general.
