Sustainable agriculture development associated with climate change adaptation: Chinese experience
Abstract
China is one of the countries most seriously impacted by climate change as well as the serious pressures of population explosion, and the stage of rapid urbanization and industrialization, the country's sustainable agricultural development faces numerous challenges: scarcity of agricultural water use; cultivated land loss and low quality; excessive and inefficient use of fertilizers and pesticides, etc. The Chinese government has implemented strategies for sustainable agricultural development to adapt to climate change such as: the application of advanced science and technology; international cooperation calling for domestic and foreign financial investment; restructuring agricultural economics; and training to improve the perception and knowledge of people about climate change. Vietnam's agriculture and climate are similar to China's, so applying China's experience to Vietnam, a nation whose economy is heavily dependent on agricultural production, can result in high efficiency.
