Abstract

High-performance vehicles are often equipped with wings and spoilers to
improve their aerodynamics and stability when running at high speed. Those wings
and spoilers are designed to improve the vehicle’s downforce and control
performance. When traveling at high speeds, the rear wing generates significant
downforce and creates a substantial amount of air resistance for the vehicle. The
wing's design, including its position, angle of attack, wing profile, etc., is only
appropriate for certain driving conditions. This study examines the impact of wing
angle on vehicle dynamics at high speeds of 100kph or 27.7m/s. A coupe-type vehicle
was used in the study, and the wing angle was varied from 0 to 25 degrees. The results
have indicated that adjusting the angle of attack of the rear wing can increase the
vehicle’s downforce, thus improving its overall performance. This finding has the
potential to catalyze further exploration and development in future studies.
