Abstract

This study investigated the analysis of the organophosphorus flame
retardants (OPFRs) in mattress fabric samples using the Gas Chromatography -
Mass Spectroscopy method (GC - MS). Analyzing results of 31 upholstery fabric
samples showed that tris(1-chloro-2-propyl) phosphate (TCIPP) was detected
with the highest detection frequency in flame retardants, about 65% with
concentrations ranging from about 0.5 - 2.32mg/g, average 1.0556mg/g. Skin
exposure due to contact with TCIPP in upholstery fabric in children is 2.5 times
higher than that of adult men, 2.9 times higher than that of adult women, 2.7
times higher than young people, 1.4 times higher than teenagers.
