Abstract

Direct Laser Metal Deposition-DLMD is deverloped base on Additive
Manufacturing (AM). Currently, DLMD is strongly developing and has great
application potential in industries. Powder feeding of DLMD is great significance
and greatly affecting product accuracy. The results of designing and fabricating a
rotating grooved disk powder feeder device for DLMD were presented in this
paper. The specification of powder feeder with 316L stainless steel powder has
been determined by experimentally. The experimental results showed the
changing rule of powder feeding rate when changing the carrier gas flow rate
and rotation speed of the disc. Characteristics of powder feeder can responds to
the requirements of powder feeding for DLMD.
