DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AND KEY STRATEGIES TO FOSTER DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION: IMPLICATIONS FOR ENTERPRISES AND UNIVERSITY

Abstract

Digital transformation plays an increasing important role in the digital era. The successful
digital transformation will help firms to form and develop new business models that brings
outstanding benefits both to firms, stakeholders, customers, environment and society. Aware of
the importance of digital transformation, many firms have actively performed digitization and
digital tranformation, created competitive advantages and achieved key organizational
outcomes. However, most firms do not have a full understanding of the nature, process and
strategic directions to promote digital transformation associated with their business operations.
To fill this cognitive gap, this study utilized an inductive approach, on the basis of systematic
synthesis and analysis of case studies on digital transformation from more than 20 scientific
papers, to form a theoretical framework for digital transformation, and thereby proposing the
appropriate strategies for firms and educational institutions to promote digital transformation
in their organizations.
