ASSESSMENT OF PHYSICO MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF COTTON FABRICS BEFORE AND AFTER DYEING
Abstract
The study on the change of some properties of cotton fabric before and after
dyeing was studied using the same cotton fabric before and after dyeing
provided by Nam Dinh Silk Textile Joint Stock Company. Fabric samples were
tested: Method of taking test samples according to TCVN 5791-1994; determine
the tensile strength and elongation of fabrics according to the standard TCVN
1754:1986; determine the breathability of fabrics according to national
standards TCVN 5092:2009, ASTM D737:2004; determine the capillary of the
fabric according to the standard TCVN 5073:1990; determine the shrinkage of the
fabric according to TCVN 8041-2009; determine the crease of fabric according to
the standard TCVN 5444-1991. The results show that some properties of cotton
fabric after dyeing have changed markedly compared to that of pre-dyed fabric
both in the longitudinal direction and in the horizontal direction. The fabric's
shrinkage, breathability and creasing are increased more than that of the predyed fabric, and the capillary, capillary, and tensile strength and break of the
fabric after dyeing are lower than that of the pre-dyed fabric.
