Abstract

The aim of the study is to obtain polarization current in a very short time
(10-6 to 10s) not measurable by classical techniques. The complex permittivity
which obtained from dielectric spectroscopy measurements on PEN (a polar
material) is the basic data of this study. The relaxations associated with the
polarization processes, β, β* and α, were observed on the imaginary part of the
complex permittivity (dielectric loss) at different frequencies and temperatures.
The Cole-Cole functions were used to modeling the relaxations, whereby the
complex permittivity was expressed as a continuous function in the frequency
domain. The frequency-time inverse Fourier transform was then performed to
obtain the polarization current in a very short time. The results had a good
correlation with the current in a long time measured by the APC method.
