Abstract

The application of controlled switching device in order to mitigate influence
of transient has been taken into account by electric utilities for years. This paper
is devoted to analyse the point on wave method, challenges of choosing
parameters for controlled switching device as well as commissioning procedure
to a capacitor bank circuit breaker in 220kV Hadong substation. The results
showed that the Synchro-Teq had effectively mitigated the inrush current,
transient in the system and could be applied to other capacitive loads such as
shunt reactors, no-load transformers, no-load transmission lines.
