Abstract

The size of the female breast is an important parameter for the design,
manufacture and selection of bra, these dimensions are determined by two
methods: traditional direct measuring method using manual measurement by
Martin tool and indirect measuring method using three-dimensional scanning
technology (3D). The accuracy of direct measuring method depends heavily on the
measuring skill, the measuring time is long, there are many errors due to the
measurement exposure process. Indirect measuring method using 3D scanning
technology with many advantages of fast measurement speed, high accuracy... is
being researched and applied to measure human body size parameters. The paper
presents research results comparing traditional measurement method with 3D
scanning using a application with Scan3D MB2019 to determine the size of young
female breasts. The 3D dimensions measured by Geomagic Design 2019 software
are equivalent to the direct measurement results. The average difference in a
position for the two measurement methods is 0.6 cm. The research results show
that the application of 3D technology to measure the breast size meets the
requirements in the garment and fashion industry.
