CHERACTERIZATION OF SUGAR CANE BAGASSE ASH AND USING SUGAR CANE BAGASSE ASH IN THE FABRICATION OF CERAMIC TILES
Abstract
Chemical composition and characterization of the sugar cane bagasse ash(BA) was determined by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron
microscopy (SEM) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF). The results shows BA has a high
silica dioxide, aluminum oxide and small amount of iron, alkali and alkaline
oxides. BA is used to replace a part of feldspar in the manufacture of ceramic
tiles. Ceramic tiles replaced feldspar with BA analyzed a number of indicators
according to standard method. Results showed that BA replacement of partial
feldspars (20%) did not affect the research target of ceramic tiles.
