Friction stir welding of thixoformed AK4-1 aluminum alloy
Abstract
The microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of thermomechanically affected zone were investigated during the friction stirwelding (FSW) of the thixoformed wrought aluminum alloy AK4-1.
The results indicated that the dynamic recrystallization and mechanical
separation are the main mechanisms of grain refinement. A
technological scheme of "thixoformed part + friction stir welding
treatment" is a promising technique for the optimization of designing
and technological solutions for manufacturing components made from
high-strength aluminum alloys used rocket-aerospace technology and
automotive industries made.
