Design of a coffee de-husk using two horizontal rollers model XV-1500

Abstract

A coffee de-husk with two horizontal rollers model XV-1500 was
designed and fabricated at the Vietnam Institute of Agricultural
Engineering and Post-harvest Technology. This is the new structure
coffee de-husk using two horizontal cylindrical de-husking rollers.
The slot between claw and trough of the upper roller and the lower
one can be adjusted for suitable to various coffee species with
different physical specifications, especialy coffee with thick and hard
husk such as Robusta and Chari species. Results of the experimental
research with Robusta coffee showed that the coffee de-husk model
XV-1500 has high de-husking efficiency, low crack and/or broken
rate of coffee bean, low water consumption and especialy specific
electric cost is lower compared to the one cylindrical roller, the
conical roller as well as the disk coffee de-husks.
