Abstract

This paper studies the effects of nitrile rubber foam sunshade coverused
for cooling a Ford Laser when it is exposed to strong sunlight. The study
method is combined from experiment and theoretical calculation. The
results have shown that, when using 3 mm-thick nitrile rubber foam
sunshade cover, the car’s observed maximum temperature was 50.2oC,
which is much lower than whenit is exposed directly to sun radiation,
and when commercial covers were used, the temperature were 22.3oC
and 15.5oC repsectively. The results of energy efficiency calculation
showed that total sun radiation energy stored into the car was greatly
reduced when using nitrile rubber foam cover, which wasreducedby
66.34% compared tobeing directly exposed to sun radiation.
