Applying Workbench software and ADAMS/VIEW software for modal analysis of planetary gear

Abstract

The planetary gear serves as the main part of the planetary transmission;
during transmission, the cycloid gear affects various components
simultaneously, such as the center gear, the internal ring gear and outputpins. Therefore, if its own vibration frequency and engagement frequency
during transmission are identical, this will generate resonance and destroy
machine components. Consequently, by performing modal analysis of
planetary gear on ANSYS Workbech environment and ADAMS/View to
determinate the planetary gear’s own vibration frequencies and
correspondent shapes, compared results based on two softwares proved
that the 3D solid model of tranmission is reliable. The results have certain
reference values in the design of the transmissions in particular or in the
field of mechanical design in general.
