Abstract

This paper presents the application of Particle Swam Optimization (PSO) for
optimizing cutting process in high speed milling. In the field of artificial
intelligent, the PSO algorithm has been applied in improving productivity and
product quality. In this paper, on the basis of high-speed milling models, the
authors proposed to apply PSO in the optimization of cutting parameters with
two objectives: to ensure surface roughness and tool life. The programs used to
calculate the optimal cutting parametersforhigh speed milling using PSO
algorithm and to assess and compare the results with genetic algorithm (GA) is
available in Optimization tool section of Matlab software.
