Abstract

This paper focuses on identifying completely three velocity components of
turbulent flow inside GLCC body, which has been developed the applications at
Vietnam, and some countries in the world. In practical issue, the limitations of
conventional measuring devices showed that they only identified the axial and
tangential velocity components of turbulent flow. Then, a radial velocity
component is evaluated by using empirical formula with two measured velocity
components as presented in the literature. For this work, the authors have
investigated the CFD simulation of GLCC separator and have compared with the
practical measurement from previous studies of other researchers. The radial
velocity component is extracted from the CFD simulated model. Three different
inlet configurations are modeled to investigate their effects on hydrokinetic of
turbulent flow inside GLCC body. The results showed that there is excellent
agreement between the practical measurement and CFD simulation, which can be
used to identify the radial velocity component.
