Abstract

This paper presents a study in designing and manufacturing an equipment
to determine the wear intensity and coefficient of friction for different
materials (C45 Steel, Copper alloy LCuZn30) based on POD
(Pin-on-disk) theory. The manufactured equipment can change its load
(10 to 70)N and the relative sliding speed (1 to 5) m/sec. The experiments
were performed by maintaining the load while changing relative sliding
speed and vice versa. The chart of the recorded dependent of the wear
intensity and coefficient of friction on the load and sliding speed is
similar to the theory and results obtained on UMT machine imported
from CERT. The results also showed that the wear intensity will be
directly proportional with relative sliding speed and load.
