AN EVALUATION AND PROMOTION ON REDUCTION OF EMISSION FROM CURRENTLY USED MOTORBIKES IN VETNAM FOLLOWING EURO II STANDARD

Abstract

Motorbike emissions are known that one of the main pollution source especially in some big cities of Vietnam. In order to reduce emission pollution from currently used vehicles, Euro II standard has been applied for motorbike since 2007, July. However, most of currently used motorbikes were manufactured before that time which not equipped with after-treatment systems as new motorbikes. In addition, the motorbikes, which were manufactured after that, have been used for such a long time so the efficiency of engine has been decreased too much, thereby the decrease on performance and the increase on emissions. In this study, analysis was conducted to collect common currently used motorbikes to test on ECE R40 applied for Euro II standard. Emissions were measured and evaluated to promote effective solutions to control emissions from these vehicles.
