INVESTIGATE THE INFLUENCE OF TOP TENSION YARN TO COTTON SINGLE JERSEY FABRIC PROPERTIES ON FLAT KNITTING MACHINE SHIMA SEIKI

Abstract

Flat knitting machine possesed many advantages for production of sharp knitted products despite of high technological capacity. However, the reciprocal mouvement of cam system caused unstability of yarn tension. Tension mechanism hepls reducing the variation of yarn tension in knitting. The change of yarn tension influents on structure parameters of grey and finishing knitted fabric. This study has investiged the influence of top tension yarn on fabric structures parameters such as: vertical and horizontal stitch density, thickness, area masse of grey and finishing fabric, which knitted from 100% cotton yarn with 32/2Nm. Three values of yarn tension were examined, whichs was 1.5; 11 and 19cN. The results showed that when the yarn tension increased, the fabrics parameters as vertical and horizontal stitch density, thickness, area masse of grey and finishing fabric tend to increase but in relatively small value: the area masse of 100% cotton Nm 32/2 knitted fabric have incresed to 2.8% and 3.2%, the fabric thickness have increased 2.22 and 2.27%, corresponded to grey and finifhing fabric case, when the top tension yarn increased from 1.5cN to 19cN.
