Abstract

Volumetric errors including geometric and kinematic errors are the components which influence strongly on part cutting accuracy. Thus, researching the affect of the errors on total error in CNC machine is indispensable. This paper presents a volumetric error identification method as well as model contribution on 3 axis CNC machine based on rigid body kinematics assumption and homogeneous transformation. The total error equations for 3 axes are established to evaluate the affects of each component error on cutting accuracy and to build the error compensation method.
