Abstract

This study aimed to assess the academic resilience level of pharmacy students following the lockdown caused by COVID-19 in Vietnam. From March 31, 2022, to May 12, 2022, 761 first-, third-, and fifth-year pharmacy students participated in a cross-sectional study. The Academic Pharmacy Resilience Scale was employed to evaluate students’ academic resilience. Students’ median academic resilience scores in 1, 3, and 5 academic years were 54, 46, and 49, respectively. A theoretical score range of 1680 indicated that Pharmacy students have moderate academic resilience. There was a statistically significant difference in academic resilience between students in the three courses (p < 0.0001). First-year students had the highest academic resilience scores, while third-year students had the lowest. Students with good and excellent grade point averages (GPA) had higher median academic resilience scores than those of students with poor, average, and fair GPA scales (all p values < 0.001). This study’s findings help the university adopt suitable approaches to assist students, particularly third-year students and students with poor, average, and fair GPAs, to cope with the effects of COVID-19 faster.
