Use social media in scientific research

Abstract

   Social media is a group of Internet-based applications that allow users to create and share content within the network community. For scientific activities, social media can be used as a tool for exchanging information, working collaboratively among researchers and disseminating scientific information to the community. The article presents the concept of social media, popular social media channels, benefits and issues to be aware of for good use of social media for scientific research and academic exchange.
