The status and some factors influencing the antibiotic utilization of surgical patients in department of general surgery in Thanh Nhan hospital, Hanoi in 2015
Abstract
This study was conducted in Department of General Surgery in Thanh Nhan hospital to explore the antibiotic utilization of surgical patients. There were some objectives as the follows: 1/ To describe the status on antibiotic utilization and 2/ To analyze some factors influenzing antibiotic utilization of patients. Methodology: cross-sectional descriptive study, combine quantitative and qualitative researches, secondary data review. Subjects and sample size: Patient records of inpatients who had surgery in General Surgery Department, reports of Pharmaceutical Department and General Surgery Deparment. Rusults: 100% of patients used antibiotics after surgery. Beta-lactam antibiotics group has been used mostly (52%), and the most popular was Cephalosporin, 2nd Generation. Combine 2 antibiotics utilization had the highest proportion (70.2%). Only 2.5% of patients were required to take a test of antibiogramme. There are some factors affected to antibiotic utilization of patients, including: knowledge, attitude, experience and habit of doctor; psychotherapy of patient, medicine utilization management, bacterial contamination control, and drug and treatment council.
