Abstract

Maintaining a high rate of full vaccination is a key point to ensure the efficacy of the immunization programme. We carried out this cross-sectional research in Tien Lang, a rural district in of Hai Phong City, to aim at measuring the coverage of basic immunization, and full vaccination for <5 children, then identifying some factors associated with a failure of having full vaccination. Study findings showed a high immunization coverage for every separate vaccine, all above 95%. The coverage of full vaccination among children under 5 years is 93.4%, and 89.84% among children under 1 year-old. This coverage of full vaccination in Tien Lang District is lower than the national mean coverage. Factors associated with incomplete vaccination of children are: misunderstanding of the mother about vaccination schedule (OR=4.38), and the fact that the child having immunization doses outside of the expanded programme on immunization but this had not been recorded into the vaccination card (OR=7.23).
