Abstract

Chemical composition of the leaf oil of Polyscias fruticosa L. Harms which is from Quang Binh province, Viet Nam has been determined by GC/MS spectrometry. The results show that major constituents were sesquiterpenoids. In addition, some compounds with a relatively large amount  have been identified such as trans-α-bergamotene (8,26%), cis-β-elemene (5,3%), β-bourbonene (3,18%), germacrene-B (3,63%) e.c.t. Optimal conditions for steam distillation method was NaCl 5% solution with distillation time 90 minutes.
