A STUDY ON THE CHEMICAL COMPOSITION AND DISTILLATION CONDITIONS OF THE LEAF OIL OF DINH LANG TREES (POLYSCIAS FRUTICOSA L. HARM) IN QUANG BINH PROVINCE BY STEAM DISTILLATION METHOD

Abstract

Chemical composition of the leaf oil of Polyscias fruticosa L. Harms which is from Quang Binh province, Viet Nam has been determined by GC/MS spectrometry. The results show that major constituents were sesquiterpenoids. In addition, some compounds with a relatively large amount  have been identified such as trans-α-bergamotene (8,26%), cis-β-elemene (5,3%), β-bourbonene (3,18%), germacrene-B (3,63%) e.c.t. Optimal conditions for steam distillation method was NaCl 5% solution with distillation time 90 minutes.
