THE ROLE OF KOREA’S OFFICIAL DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE TO SOUTHEAST ASIAN REGION

Abstract

Since 1990s of the twentieth century, Southeast Asian Nations have been the major recipient of Korea’s Official Development Assistance (ODA). With Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), ODA plays an important role in the economic development and poverty reduction in ASEAN countries. This paper aims to clarify Korea’s ODA policy to the Southeast Asian countries in recent years, analyses, evaluates the positive side as well as the limitation of Korea’s ODA policy towards Southeast Asian region and provides some opportunities for future development.
