SYNTHESIS NN’N-TYPE PINCER LIGAND AND STUDY STRUCTURE OF COMPLEXES Ni(II) WITH NN’N-TYPE PINCER LIGANDS

Abstract

Pyridine-based NN’N pincer ligand 2,6-bis (isopropylaminomethyl) pyridine (L) were easily prepared from 2,6-dimethylpyridine in high yields and inexpensive. The pincer ligand (L) were proposed to allow easy variation of -NH moiety and explore the properties of NN’N complexes in catalytic reactions. Two pincer complexes bearing ligand (L) were synthesized from NiCl2 precursors: (L)NiCl2 (P1), [(L)Ni(CH3CN)3]·2BF4(P2). Complexes of (P1) and (P2) were also determined by IR, single crystal X-ray diffraction. In those complexes, the nature of the ligand shows the variation in its structure which gives the possibility to investigate more detailed properties of Ni(II) complexes.
