THE REFLECTION OF MAJOR CHANGES, HISTORICAL EVENTS IN QUANG BINH’S PLACE NAMES

Abstract

Toponymy is not only a linguistic phenomenon, but also a cultural phenomenon and a historical category. By analyzing the cultural and historical aspects reflected on the Quang Binh Toponymy, we can gain more knowledge about natural geographical characteristics, establishment history and development of place-names; embark the significant and noticeable events happening in these Toponymy areas, changes in habitants and border in such called “borderland”, “battlefield” in the patriotic-war history of our nation.
