SYNTHESIS OF V-TiO2 MATERIAL AS PHOTOCATALYSTS FOR REDUCTION OF CO2 TO RENEWABLE FUELS
Abstract
In the study, vanadium was used as a dopant defected into the TiO2 lattice leading toformation of Ti3+ and oxygen vacancies in the lattice. The formed Ti3+ acted as anintermediate band between the valence band and the conduction band of the TiO2 toenhance electron - hole separation efficiency. The formed oxygen vacancies on thephotocatalyst surface enhanced the CO2 adsorption leading to increase in itsphotocatalytic activity even under the visible light. Therefore, the photocatalyticactivity of the V doped TiO2 was much higher than that of non-doped TiO2. The visiblelight adsorption and photocatalytic activity of the V-TiO2 depended on the V dopingratios. The optimal V doping ratio was 3 wt%.
