TREATMENT OF BREWERY MANUFACTURING WASTEWATER USING COMBINED ACTIVATED SLUDGE AND PLANT PROCESS

Abstract

      Brewery industries discharge larger amounts of wastewater as compared to otherdrink industries. Brewery wastewater contains high amount of organic materials andnutrients such as fat, protein, and lactose. Biological treatment is widely used to treatthis kind of wastewater due to the fluctuation of amount and content of brewerywastewater. This study investigated the removal of organic and ammoniumcontaminants from brewery wastewater by biological process. The obtained resultsshowed that the combined use of activated sludge and plant treatment reducedapproximately 90% of the COD and NH4+ and reached portion QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT about industrial wastewater sort A.
