SYNTHESES AND STUDY ON CHARACTERIZATION OF 2-THIOPHENEACETATE COMPLEXES OF SOME HEAVY RARE-EARTH ELEMENTS

Abstract

    The complexes of rare earth ions with 2-thiopheneacetic acid (HTPA) have been synthesized. The characteristics of rare earth complexes have been performed by elemetal analysis, IR, thermal analysis and mass-spectroscopy methods. The coordination modes of the 2-thiopheneaxetic acid to Ln3+ centres have been investigated by IR spectra. Mass-spectroscopy showed that the 2-thiopheneaxetate are monomes Na[Ln(TPA)4] (Ln(III): Tb(III), Dy(III), Ho(III), Yb(III); TPA-: 2-thiopheneaxetate). TG- curves indicate that the complexes are stable up to a temperature of about 316-6350C. The thermal separation of the 2-thiopheneaxetate was supposed as follows:
