STUDY ON TREATMENT OF NON-WEATHERED URANIUM ORE BY MIXING - CURING METHOD WITH CAPACITY OF 30 KG/BACTH

Abstract

    Uranium ore in Pa Lua area is sandstone with different levels of weathering. In thisstudy, a technique of mixing and curing with strong acids was used and followed bywashing to recover uranium from non-weathering ores. The effects of main leachingconditions on uranium leaching efficiency were investigated. The experiment resultsshowed that suitable parameters of leaching process have been the following:uranium ores size ≤ 1cm, sulfuric acid addition 31,5kg/ton of ore, adding oxidant 4 kgMnO2/ton of ore, curing duration of 2 days, washing flow rates of 5ml/min. Therecovery was 83,33% that would be comparable with those obtained in the field scaleheap leaching tests in the world. Uranium products at technical grade were thusobtained with high quality.
