Abstract

Nickel aluminate particles were prepared by solution combustion method, startingfrom nickel (II) nitrate, aluminum nitrate and urea. The particles were calcined totemperatures between 500oC and 800oC, for the formation of the mixed oxide havingspinel structure. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, the obtainedresults showed that the samples have mesoporous structure with high surface areaand nanocrystalline structure with crystals in the range of 10-20 nm. The samplescalcined at 800oC showed the highest surface area 140,9 m2/g. The NiAl2O4 containingamorphism had photo- absorption ability in visible light region. The photocatalytic resultfor degradation of phenol red (PR) indicated that the combustion- synthesized samples hadphotocatalytic activity.
