PREPARARION AND LUMINESCENCE INVESTIGATION OF 2-THIOPHENEACETATE COMPLEXES OF SOME HEAVY RARE EARTH ELEMENTS

Abstract

    Four complexes 2-thiopheneacetate of heavy rare earth ions with the general formulaNa[Ln(TPA)4] (Ln: Tb, Dy, Ho, Yb; TPA-: 2-thiopheneacetate) have been prepared.The luminescence properties of these complexes in solid state were investigated bymeasuring the excitation and emission spectra, the intramolecular ligand-to-rareearth energy transfer mechanisms were discussed. The emission spectra of the Yb(III)complexes displayed only narrow bands arising from2 2F5/2  F7/2 transition. On theother hand, the emission spectrum of the Tb (III) complex displayed five bandsarising from5 74 7 D  F , 5 74 6 D  F , 5 74 5 D  F , 5 74 4 D  F , 5 74 3 D  F transitions.
