Abstract

Plant grown in polluted soil can accumulate heavy metals causing serious risk to humanhealth when consumed. In this study, the distribution of copper and zinc from contaminatedsoil to the biomasses of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) and carrot (Daucus carota L.) wasinvestigated. According to the results of this research, copper and zinc are cumulative metalions, zinc tended to accumulate with higher level than copper. Addition, the order in whichcopper were transferred from soils to biomasses of these plants was: leaves of carrot > rootsof lettuce > roots of carrot > leaves of lettuce. Meanwhile, accumulate level of these plantsdecreased from roots of lettuce > leaves of carrot > leaves of lettuce > roots of carrot.
