SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF Cu2+ AND Zn2+ COMPLEXES WITH 9-ANTHRALDEHYDE 4-PHENYLTHIOSEMICARBAZONE LIGAND

Abstract

   This work reports the synthesis and characterization of Cu2+ and Zn2+ complexes with9-anthraldehyde 4-phenylthiosemicarbazone (9PhATSC) ligand. 9PhATSC wassynthesized via condensation reaction between 4-phenylthiosemicarbazide andanthracene-9-carbadehyde. The complexes were prepared from ionic salts ofcorresponding ions and 9PhATSC in basic medium. The formation of the compoundswas investigated by IR, NMR and MS spectroscopy.
